Mindfulness

The purpose of the mind is to think and run thoughts past us, all day long. Often, we give these thoughts arms and legs by attaching other stories to them, adding to the narrative, good or bad.

By practising mindfulness, we can learn to become present and aware. We can learn to control our thoughts rather than becoming over reactive and overwhelmed by them.

“The mind is fickle and flighty, it flies after fancies wherever it likes: it is indeed difficult to restrain. But it is a great good to control the mind; a mind self-controlled is a source of great joy.

Hidden in the mystery of consciousness, the mind...flies alone far away. Those who set their mind in harmony become free from the bonds of death.”

— Dhammapada from the Buddhist tradition

THE PROCESS

Discovery Call

Let's have a short conversation to discuss what you would like mindfulness to do for you, whether stress management, health related issues such as high blood pressure or sleep issues. We will discover whether we could be a good fit to work together. It is a personal choice when it comes to choosing the right person for you, no judgement.

Let’s Get Started

The Foundation Course is a must for setting the scene. I will give you an introduction to the foundations of mindfulness and why it is important for health and wellbeing. We will explore how the mind, body and breath connections are relevant in everyday life.

The Next Steps

Mindful Maintenance: Following an agreed period of mindful practice, you might wish to build upon your foundation, exploring more mindful techniques to apply in everyday life. Tailored to suit your needs, keep you on track and living in the moment with freedom and purpose.

Our body relies on our senses to figure out our environment, whether we are safe or in danger and creates an appropriate response. In times of stress, adrenaline prompts us to move or take action, then it should go back to a 'normal' baseline.

Unfortunately, it is common for people to exist in a permanent stress-induced state, which may affect how they feel mentally, digestion and sleep to name but a few. Learning mindfulness techniques may give you the tools to become aware of your situation and react differently, to attract a more beneficial outcome.

Testimonials

“Sally is an excellent yoga teacher always having the interests of her yoga students at the forefront and content of all her classes. Both in person and through zoom she makes everyone feel welcome and checks their well-being prior to class start. She offers a range of classes and specialist workshops suitable for all ages and abilities and having a real affinity with nature and the environment she is able to convey and instil a greater appreciation and awareness of the workings of one's mind as well as body during her teachings. I really enjoy her classes and would thoroughly recommend her to others.”

“I started practicing yoga with Sally about six years ago and I would have no hesitation in recommending her classes to both beginners and advanced yogis. I was a complete novice and I’m delighted with the progress I have made both physically and mentally. Sally is an expert and passionate about yoga. Her classes are accessible and there is a good variation of yoga sequences every week. The zoom yoga classes work really well and have maintained my sanity during lockdown.”

“Your yoga classes are accessible and informative; I feel challenged but never pressured, and the whole atmosphere is fantastic. The classes are relaxed and friendly, but I still feel like I’ve worked hard and often feel proud of my achievements.”
